Regular Events

As well as big events like our pride festival, we run and are involved in several smaller recurring events across Manchester. Check our Instagram for updates on what’s happening this week!

All of these events are free to attend - just turn up!

Queer Gardening Club

10am-2pm on Sundays, in Forever Fields garden (St Margaret’s Community Center, Whalley Range)

This event does not run every week - check our Instagram for recent updates!

Pop along every Sunday 10-2 to the gardening sessions ran by QRC's Hat! They'll be getting you stuck into the new site, building beds, sowing seeds, building new infrastructure and much more. Whether you're new to gardening or live and breath it, all are welcome to pop along.

Refreshments will be available on site but bring a packed lunch to keep you going, some sturdy shoes and waterproofs and/or suncream depending on the weather.

Access info: The Forever Fields garden is step-free but is not very wheelchair accessible - the ground is long grass and the garden does not have any raised beds for accessible gardening yet. The community centre is accessible via fixed ramp and has an accessible toilet. All other toilets in the community centre are gendered and QRC shares the space with many other community groups, some of whom may be present during the event. Refreshments are available in the MUD office, which is up a flight of stairs with no lift, but cups of tea etc can be brought down by the person running the session.

Community Roots

1pm-4pm on Wednesdays, at Platt Fields Market Garden

In partnership with Conversations over Borders, a UK based group who create connection, friendship, and conversation with communities for forcibly displaced people.

Community Roots is a weekly gardening and crafts group for the LGBTQ+ community, which will provide a safe space for refugees, asylum seekers, and recent migrants who are LGBTQ+ or questioning to connect with the wider queer community. The group will provide a friendly space to meet new people and get support and advice while enjoying the outdoors.

Access info: Detailed access info for Platt Fields Market Garden can be found on our festival access info page. The garden has step-free access and a small accessible toilet, however the toilet is accessible via a temporary ramp which is not always set up correctly. The ground is a mixture of hard path, woodchip paths, and short grass. While there are a few raised beds on site, the gardening often happens on ground level beds. Crafts happen in a covered marquee with seating around tables.

Queer As Folk

Every other Wednesday from 8pm onwards, in the Molly House

In collaboration with The Gay Gordons and UoM Folk and Ceilidh Society.

This is a fortnightly event - check our Instagram to see when the next session is!

We are celebrating, discovering, and exploring LGBTQ+ themes, histories, and stories within the framework of folk music. We welcome those of all abilities and experiences to join us! We will be playing a mix of instrumental and vocal pieces as an open folk session. Please bring yourself (and any acoustic instrument) to play, sing, or just listen along!

Access info: This event is on the 1st floor of the Molly House and is only accessible via stairs. We are looking for a more accessible venue - please contact us if you have suggestions. The current venue is also very small, although there is seating this is also often full, and the room is usually very loud with both live music and people talking.
